Ode to an October Sky
Last I checked I don’t need a medical license to sell photography so I’ve decided to take advantage of this regulatory loophole by showcasing some of my favorite antidotes for the shortest days of the year.
On a related subject, I realized when I was popping Vitamin D this morning, along with my arthritis meds, that I didn’t know how sunlight delivers Vitamin D naturally. I know photons are particles that also behave like waves, but that’s about it. Vitamin D, no clue. So I looked it up, and here’s the explanation from the National Institutes of Health:
“During exposure to sunlight 7-dehydrocholesterol in the skin absorbs UV B radiation and is converted to previtamin D3 which in turn isomerizes into vitamin D3.”
Oooooooooooh. It’s always nice to learn something before sunrise. Though now I have to find a way to use “isomerizes” in a Christmas letter.
Some favorites from my Waterworks collections, chock full of photons, and still with enough time to add to your gift shopping for the holidays.
