“Kissing Camels” formation of ~300 million year old sandstone, formed from the debris of the ancient Rocky Mountains, at Colorado Springs, CO
‘Are we there yet?’
I most often (maybe too often:)) hike alone but there’s something about a good climb with friends and offspring that makes lasting (and usually warm) memories. The weight of my landscape photography is from the lowlands of the Columbia Basin, but there’s nothing quite like the views from the top. Some favorites…
Clark Fork delta from Green Monarch Ridge south of Clark Fork, ID
Bison on the range at a wildlife refuge just east of the Flatirons near Denver. For reasons of the moment I had to hand the camera to my beloved son, Devin, who captured the scene.
Columbia River gorge, looking east, from the Rowena highlands
Devin in the mists atop the ancient uplift of pre-Cambrian rock at the Rocks of Sharon at the high divide between the Palouse and Spokane Valley southeast of Spokane.
Bear grass in a meadow along the trail to the top of Round Mountain in the Goat Rocks Wildernerss in the southern Cascades. From a hike with my daughter, Audrey, in 2022
Speaking of whom… Audrey at a meadow near the crest of Mount Spokane, from a memorable father/daughter hike in the summer of 2014
The Medicine Wheel atop the Bighorn Mountains (9,600 feet) east of Lovell, Wyoming
